WHY MAPS?
GateTrade and Castle Consulting India have combined their decades of experience in the agriculture industry and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to offer our clients the computer-generated maps described in this brochure. Our agricultural maps of India are the most comprehensive and detailed available in the world today. Presently, we offer agricultural maps only of India.
For each of 600 districts covering all of India, the maps provide answers to such critical business questions as these:
- How many hectares will be available for planting Soyabean (Soybean) this season compared to last?
- What is the projected yield of Groundnut (Peanut) in tons per hectare this year?
- What is the Sugarcane price variation from one district to the next?

DATA SOURCES AND METHODOLOGY
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for data integration, analysis, and visualization are among the most important technological developments in farming worldwide. GateTrade and Castle Consulting India assemble their map data bases from the most current and credible sources: domestic sources (such as the India Ministry of Agriculture’s Marketing Research and Information Network – AGMARKNET), and international sources (such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service).
GIS maps can be linked directly to spreadsheets, data base management systems, and even artificial intelligence modules to provide state of the art analyses and forecasts. Our agricultural experts around the world utilize all these maps as inputs to their models for predicting crop yields and prices – as illustrated below.

PURCHASING THE MAPS
Option 1: Pay-Per-View The customer buys one map at a time in the customer’s preferred format (jpeg, gif, pdf, etc.). The map will typically look like the maps shown above, though formatting options are also available upon request such as the placement of the Legend box.
Option2: Subscription The customer can sign up for a monthly or annual subscription, which allows for unlimited map production from all four data bases described previously:
- Crops Maps, 1999 to 2008
- Land Cover Maps, 1999 to 2008
- Data on 5,000 Cities and Towns
- Predictive Crop Maps
Subscription customers quickly and easily create their own maps at the Client Login part of our Web site:

Map Prices
Both the Pay-Per-View and Subscription purchase options have two-tier pricing. All the maps containing data from past years have one price, while our proprietary predictive maps have a higher price. The pricing is shown below.

Thus, for example, if a customer occasionally wanted maps of certain crops in past years, he/she would order them one at a time and pay US$20 for each, via credit card or PayPal. (If paying via telegraphic transfer, there is a US$100 minimum order plus a US$10 fee).
The one-time cost of a weekly predictive map of (say) Sugarcane prices and production is US$60. A monthly subscription for one crop would be US$225; for two crops, US$450, and so on.
