Asian Mid-day Market Report - Thursday, 19th July, 2007

Asian Stock Exchanges at mid-day were slightly higher. (Dow Jones slightly lower - down 53.33 to 13.918.22 points)  - .
STI 3,587.46 up 3.49 points,  KLCI 1,374.01 up 4.78 points, Jakarta Composite Index 2,299.020 up 4.43 points
Hang Seng Index :  22,906.09 up 65.05 points,   Nikkei 225 : 18,042.50 up 26.92 points.
 
Petroleum Oil Prices
Petroleum oil closed higher overnight, up USD1.03/barrel to USD75.05/barrel August delivery.     In Asian trading hours, Light Sweet Crude for August delivery was up USD0.15 to USD74.17/barrel.   Brent North Seas Crude for September delivery was flat at USD75.53 per barrel. 
 
General Market Information
Good morning. -  CBOT closed higher overnight.     August 37.80 +57, September 38.09 +63, October 38.59 +58, December 38.88 +60, January 39.13 +61, March 39.30 +65 and May 39.57 +59 on soybeanoil.   The open interest on MDEX increased to 67,987 lots.    E-cbot last traded : August +8, September +5 and October +16 on soybeanoil.     It truely was a very peaceful morning (i.e. we brokers had nothing to do yet again....).  MDEX followed E-cbot so closely.      Volume traded on the MDEX was small and the trading range was narrow.     The next fundamental news will be tomorrow where we will have the 1-20th July exports from ITS and SGS.    Production in Malaysia for July 2007 for crude palm oil is estimated at up 10 percent from June 2007.    So expect a small increase in end-month carryover stocks, if exports are low..    October MDEX traded from RM 2550 down to RM 2532 and closed at RM 2536 (plus 8 points).    Total volume for the morning was just 2,147 lots.     OND RBDP Olein traded at USD762.50 and then USD760.     Further sellers were at USD762.50/mt fob Malaysian ports.      Buyers were quiet this morning.     Laurics was totally unchanged from yesterday with no close bids.
   
 No trade was reported on JADE Singapore exchange this morning.    The open interest on JADE Singapore : 843 lots  (849 lots yesterday)
